Forestry mulching

Forestry Mulching and Brush Clearing Near Daytona Beach

Mulching is the fastest way to clear a half-acre lot here: one day, $2,600, nothing leaves. Forestry mulching is a land clearing method that uses specialized equipment to grind trees, palmetto and vegetation into mulch where they stood. It stays mulched in place, two to four inches, no pile to burn or haul.

Wet pine flatwoods are where the mulcher earns its keep. The tracks float on ground that swallows a dozer to the belly pan. On the ROW we ran mulchers along the Tomoka River corridor in standing water. Palmetto will overgrow a bush-hogged lot in three summers because the crowns live. The mulcher head cuts an inch under the sand and takes them.

Brush clearing on areas with dense gallberry runs $1,500 to 2,500 an acre by density. Scrub oak on the ridge, $1,200 to 1,800.

Services

Land Clearing Services in Daytona Beach

Pellegrino Land Works provides land clearing, lot clearing, brush removal, tree removal and stump grinding for residential and commercial properties in Daytona Beach, FL and the surrounding area. Our land clearing service in Daytona Beach: residential land clearing means understory mulched, stems over 8 inches cut, stumps ground, rough grading and cleanup. Commercial land clearing services for pad sites and commercial development along US 92 use the big mulcher. Commercial clearing on commercial sites gets a written plan first.

Selective clearing and property clearing around a live oak hammock: take the palmetto, leave the oaks. Professional clearing of overgrown land toward the Tomoka basin leaves the mulch down as a drive base, and we remove brush from behind an occupied house in a day, landscape clearing included. Full site clearing, site prep and land improvement on commercial properties in Daytona Beach stop at rough grade; site work past that, excavation and the pad, goes to your grading contractor.

Not mine: concrete, wells, septic, demolition. I know people who do. Our professional land clearing service runs insured crews; every project is priced in writing first.

Lot clearing

Lot Clearing for New Homes in Daytona Beach and Port Orange

Daytona Beach pulled 529 single-family permits in 2025 in the Census Building Permits Survey, most of them on the LPGA and Latitude side west of I-95. Those lots are low. A quarter-acre infill lot is $1,800 flat; a half-acre is one skid steer day at $2,600. The land clearing process is one day.

Clearing does not drain a flatwoods lot. Fill does, and fill is what will make your property buildable. Fill is also what SJRWMD looks at, not the mulching. Clear in the dry season, watch one rain, then fill the low corner only. Site preparation past that is the grading contractor's. Last fall on a lot in Palm Coast, one county up, we mulched 1.25 acres of scrub oak and palmetto in a day for $2,600. Same ground, same number, down here.

Permits

Permits, Gopher Tortoises and Drainage Before You Clear Land in Daytona Beach

Volusia County Tree Preservation protects historic trees at 36 inches DBH and up, and the city adds its own tree permit on a building lot. Gopher tortoise comes second: FWC allows no work within 25 feet of a burrow without a permit, so our crew flags every apron and ropes a 25-foot line. Bald eagle nests along the St. Johns carry a 660-foot buffer.

The third gate is water. SJRWMD runs the Environmental Resource Permit here. Mulching does not trigger it. Fill or a drainage change does, and anything within sight of a cypress head gets a wetland line first. On the ROW we ran corridor across those flatwoods through two wet seasons; the mulcher floated while the dozers waited for November. Call Sunshine 811 before grubbing so the gas pipeline and the FPL feeders are marked.

FAQ

Land Clearing FAQs for Daytona Beach Lot Owners

How much does land clearing cost in Daytona Beach in 2026?

$1,800 for a quarter-acre infill lot and $2,600 for a half-acre, one skid steer day, transport billed. Acreage runs $1,500 to 2,500 for palmetto flatwoods and $1,200 to 1,800 for scrub. Full clearing to dirt with stumps is $3,000 to 5,500 an acre.

Can you work wet ground?

Yes. The mulcher floats on wet flatwoods where a dozer sinks, but June through September on muck or standing water adds one day to the quote. Grubbing and root raking wait for the dry season because the dozer does not float. Mulched ground also carries a truck sooner.

Can you remove large trees and stumps during land clearing?

Yes. Stems to about 8 inches go through the mulcher; bigger slash pine and laurel oak get cut and hauled by the 10-yard load. Each stump is ground at $4.50 per inch of diameter, $150 minimum. Historic trees at 36 inches and up stay unless Volusia County signs off.

How soon can the crew get here?

Brandi texts you a scheduling window within an hour of the form, and in dry season the trailer rolls from Ocala inside the week. Call (352) 619-3597 if your closing date is set. We pair your lot with a neighbor's when we can and split the transport.
