Forestry mulching

Forestry Mulching and Brush Clearing Near Palm Coast

Forestry mulching is a land clearing method that uses specialized equipment to grind trees, palmetto and vegetation into mulch, and it is the fastest way to clear an ITT lot and remove brush without a pile. The chips stay mulched in place, two to four inches deep.

The root mat under palmetto is the part a bush hog misses. The head runs an inch into the sand and chews the crowns, so regrowth comes back thin. Palmetto will overgrow a mowed lot in three summers. On the ROW we ran mulchers through Flagler flatwoods for FPL. Those corridors stayed walkable for years. Brush clearing on areas with dense gallberry prices by the acre, $1,500 to 2,500 in palmetto and pine. Scrub oak on the ridge runs $1,200 to 1,800.

Lot clearing

Lot Clearing for New Homes in Palm Coast and Bunnell

Palm Coast issued 1,356 single-family permits in 2025 by the Census Building Permits Survey, more than any city on this coast outside the Jacksonville metro. Quarter-acre infill lot, $1,800 flat. Half-acre, one skid steer day, $2,600. The land clearing process is a single day, and the city tree protection code allows no clearing without a building permit.

Low lots toward Graham Swamp hold water June to September. Clearing does not drain a lot. Fill is what will make your property drain, and fill is where the water management district pays attention. Clear in the dry season, see where the water sits, fill that spot only. Site preparation past that is your grading contractor's. Last spring on a ridge lot here we mulched 1.25 acres of scrub oak and palmetto in one day for $2,600.

Pricing

How Much Does Land Clearing Cost in Palm Coast?

Land clearing costs in Palm Coast run $1,800 for a quarter-acre infill lot and $2,600 for a half-acre, one skid steer day. If you searched land clearing Palm Coast for a price, start there. Priced first, before the acre rate: June through September adds a day on muck or wet flatwoods, and gopher tortoise burrows mean a licensed agent survey, $400 to 900, plus an FWC relocation permit.

  • Skid steer forestry mulcher $2,600 a day, transport billed from Ocala.
  • Dedicated 300-hp mulcher for large acreage clearing, $4,000 a day plus transport.
  • Palmetto and pine flatwoods $1,500 to 2,500 an acre; scrub oak and sandhill $1,200 to 1,800; Brazilian pepper adds $500 an acre for cut-stump treatment.
  • Full clearing to dirt with stumps $3,000 to 5,500 an acre.
  • Stump grinding $4.50 per inch of diameter, $150 minimum per stump; ten or more, we grind by the day.
  • Haul-off $700 to 1,300 per 10-yard load. Burning needs a Florida Forest Service authorization; platted sections are no-burn.

The final number depends on the size of the lot and how wet it sits, priced depending on site conditions after a site visit. Call (352) 619-3597 or send the form, and Brandi texts you a window within the hour.

Permits

Permits, Gopher Tortoises and Drainage Before You Clear Land in Palm Coast

The city requires a land clearing permit tied to a building permit, and the Flagler County clearing permit applies over 1 acre outside the city. Gopher tortoise is the second gate. ITT scrub lots are full of burrows, and FWC allows no work within 25 feet of one without a permit. Our crew flags every burrow apron and runs a 25-foot line before the mulcher unloads. Bald eagle nests carry a 660-foot buffer.

Wetlands are the third gate. SJRWMD handles the Environmental Resource Permit, and clearing does not trigger it. Fill or a drainage change does. Anything along Pellicer Creek gets a wetland line first. On the ROW we ran corridor through those same wet flatwoods: the mulcher floats where a dozer sinks. Call Sunshine 811 before grubbing so the gas pipeline and FPL feeders get marked.

FAQ

Land Clearing FAQs for Palm Coast Lot Owners

How much does land clearing cost in Palm Coast in 2026?

$1,800 for a quarter-acre infill lot and $2,600 for a half-acre, one skid steer day, transport billed from Ocala. Acreage runs $1,500 to 2,500 for palmetto flatwoods and $1,200 to 1,800 for scrub oak. Full clearing to dirt with stumps is $3,000 to 5,500 an acre.

Do I need a permit to burn cleared brush here?

Yes. Every pile needs a Florida Forest Service open burning authorization, and the city does not allow land-clearing burns on platted lots. That is why we mulch: no pile, no smoke complaint, no haul bill. If you want bare ground, haul-off is $700 to 1,300 per 10-yard load.

Can you remove large trees and stumps during land clearing?

Yes. The mulcher handles stems to about 8 inches; bigger slash pine and laurel oak get cut and hauled by the load. Stumps are ground at $4.50 per inch of diameter, $150 minimum per stump. Specimen trees under the city tree code stay unless your building permit says otherwise.

How soon can you get equipment to Palm Coast?

Brandi texts you a scheduling window within an hour of the form, and in dry season the trailer usually rolls from Ocala within the week. Call (352) 619-3597 if your closing has a date on it. We pair your lot with a neighbor's when we can and split the transport.
