Forestry Mulching and Land Clearing in Fort Myers, FL: Lot, Brush and Palmetto Clearing

Fort Myers, FL is flatwoods inside the city line and acreage outside it: cabbage palm hammock along the Orange River, dead citrus toward Alva and Buckingham, Brazilian pepper on every fence line. Sand on the ridges, muck in the sloughs. Our Punta Gorda crew is 35 minutes up I-75 and transport is included. Skid steer forestry mulcher, $2,600 a day. Ian put more pine on the ground in one night than I did in ten years on the ROW. Call (352) 619-3597 or send the form. Brandi texts you a scheduling window within the hour.

Forestry mulching

Forestry Mulching and Brush Clearing Near Fort Myers

Forestry mulching runs $1,500 to 2,500 an acre on flatwoods here, by density, with no haul-off. It is a land clearing method that uses specialized equipment to grind trees, palmetto and vegetation into mulch where they stand. The mulch bed holds the sand through the June rains.

Two grounds here. Pine and palmetto flatwoods mulch fast; the head runs under the palmetto crown and takes the root mat, which a bush hog never does, and palmetto will overgrow a mowed lot in two seasons. Pepper fence lines are slower, because every cut gets herbicide within minutes or it resprouts by fall. Dead citrus gets pushed and root raked instead; a grove is a dozer job, not a mulch job. Brush clearing on wet flatwoods still goes to the mulcher, which floats where a dozer sinks.

Services

Land Clearing Services in Fort Myers for Lots, Acreage and Commercial Land

Pellegrino Land Works provides land clearing for residential and commercial properties in the Fort Myers area with insured crews. Selective clearing is the most common call on bigger parcels: palmetto and pepper out, pines and oaks kept, a mulched floor you can drive on. Full site clearing for a pad adds stump grinding, root raking and rough grading; excavation for the pool stays with the builder.

Commercial land clearing services cover commercial sites and commercial development along Colonial and US 41: site work, site prep, haul-off by the 10-yard load, cleanup at the end. Commercial clearing gets the 300-hp mulcher when the stems pass 8 inches. Residential land clearing on infill lots is the skid steer, one day. Land improvement on a parcel means bush hogging, tree removal, brush removal and landscape clearing around a house that stays. Overgrown land gets the same professional land clearing service from a land clearing company serving Lee County since 2012. We do not pour concrete, drill wells, set septic or demolish houses. I know people who do.

Lot clearing

Lot Clearing for New Homes in Fort Myers and North Fort Myers

The city of Fort Myers issued 304 single-family permits in 2025 by the Census Building Permits Survey, while Lee County as a whole ran 9,962, so most lot clearing happens outside the city line. Property owners inside it clear infill lots: a quarter-acre at $1,800 flat, a half acre in one skid steer day. Those are the land clearing projects we see most inside the city.

Outside the line it is bigger ground. Two to five acres north of the river, a homesite in the middle, pasture or hammock around it. We mulch the pad footprint plus a 30-foot ring, pull stumps, and leave the pad ready for site preparation and fill. Low spots get cleared in the dry season, and where the water goes after fill gets answered first.

Pricing

Land Clearing Fort Myers FL: Prices by Lot, Acre and Day

Land clearing costs in Fort Myers run from $1,800 for a quarter-acre lot to $5,500 an acre for full clearing to dirt. The price depends on the size, the stems and the month.

  • Skid steer mulcher, $2,600 a day, transport included within 75 miles of Punta Gorda.
  • 300-hp mulcher for large acreage clearing, $4,000 a day plus transport.
  • Flatwoods mulching, $1,500 to 2,500 an acre; melaleuca or pepper thickets add $500 an acre for the herbicide work.
  • Full clearing to dirt with stumps, $3,000 to 5,500 an acre, grading included.
  • Stump grinding, $4.50 an inch, $150 minimum per stump. Ten or more and we grind by the day.
  • Grubbing and root rake with the dozer, $170 an hour with operator. Haul-off, $700 to 1,300 per 10-yard load.

Wet season, June through September, adds one day on muck or wet flatwoods. The gopher tortoise survey, $400 to 900, goes on the estimate before the clearing price. After Ian we hauled 9 loads off one acre in Punta Gorda, $8,100. Call (352) 619-3597 for your number in writing.

Permits

Permits, Gopher Tortoises and Drainage Before You Clear in Fort Myers

Lee County requires a Vegetation Removal permit for clearing in the unincorporated county, and the city has its own tree code inside the line; Estero and Bonita Springs run their own codes too. Professional clearing starts with the right permit for the right jurisdiction. Then the gopher tortoise: FWC requires a survey within 90 days of clearing on upland ground, and no work within 25 feet of a burrow without a relocation permit.

Bald eagle nests are dense along the Caloosahatchee, and the buffer is 660 feet. Florida panther consultation can apply on larger tracts to the east. Drainage and wetlands sit with SFWMD: clearing is not an Environmental Resource Permit trigger, but filling a slough or rerouting the water is. On the ROW we flagged every wet crossing before the first machine moved. Burning is rarely allowed on small lots; everything is mulched in place or hauled.

Owner, Pellegrino Land Works · Ocala and Punta Gorda

Marc Pellegrino, 44, owns Pellegrino Land Works and runs it from Ocala in Marion County, with a second crew in Punta Gorda. He spent 10 years as a right-of-way clearing crew lead for a utility contractor on FPL and co-op corridors across Florida, flatwoods to cypress strands to muck, and started his own outfit in 2012. After Hurricane Ian in 2022 he spent six months on debris in Charlotte and Lee counties. He knows the FWC gopher tortoise rule, the eagle nest buffer and the water management district permit thresholds by heart. Brandi runs the office and texts every scheduling window.

FAQ

Land Clearing FAQs for Fort Myers Property Owners

How much does land clearing cost in Fort Myers in 2026?

A quarter-acre lot is $1,800 flat and a half acre is one skid steer day at $2,600. Full clearing to dirt with stumps runs $3,000 to 5,500 an acre depending on site conditions, stem count and loads out. Pepper adds $500 an acre. Call (352) 619-3597 and the number goes in writing after the site visit.

What is the cheapest way to clear a few acres?

Mulching, because nothing leaves on a truck. The land clearing process is one machine for one or two days, and the mulch stays as ground cover. Property clearing to bare dirt costs two to three times more once stumps and haul loads are in. Either one will make your property usable.

Do you locate utilities and pipeline easements before you remove brush?

Yes. Every job opens with Sunshine 811 locates; then we walk the property with the flags standing. Acreage east of I-75 often carries an FPL corridor or a pipeline easement, and those get mulched low, never grubbed. Ten years on right-of-way crews taught me where lines hide.

Can you clear land that still holds water?

Yes, with the mulcher; it rides the wet flatwoods where a dozer would bury itself. June through September adds one day on muck, and water over the tracks waits for the dry season. Areas with dense melaleuca on wet ground get a second look before I set the day count. Frequently asked questions about burning get one answer: not on a small lot.
